Case Study:

3D Lift Configurator

Transforming Elevator Design into an Interactive 3D Experience

Cabin360 is an interactive 3D lift configurator designed to help users visualize and customize elevator cabins in real-time. The platform enables designers, architects, and sales teams to explore different cabin combinations, materials, lighting options, and finishes through a highly realistic 3D interface.

Instead of relying on static catalogs or technical drawings, users can instantly preview their selections in a dynamic 3D environment.

Looking Ahead

This project also serves as a foundation for our upcoming platform:

LiftZ360

A next-generation lift design and visualization platform currently in development, aimed at delivering even more advanced configuration capabilities and immersive product experiences.

Project Overview

The goal of this project was to create a visual configuration system that allows users to build their own lift cabin by selecting different design components.

Users can:
  • Choose cabin wall finishes
  • Select floor designs
  • Configure ceiling lighting
  • Customize control panels
  • Explore door styles
  • View mirror and handrail options
  • Rotate and inspect the lift in full 3D
  • Export a summary of the selected design

This system bridges the gap between product catalogs and real-world visualization, making the selection process faster and more engaging.

Key Features

Interactive 3D Lift Builder

Users can configure multiple lift components and instantly see their selections reflected in a realistic 3D cabin environment.

Component-Based Design System

Each lift cabin is built using modular design components including:
  • Wall panels
  • Floor types
  • Ceiling lighting
  • Control panels
  • Door designs
  • Mirror layouts
  • Handrails

This modular structure allows hundreds of possible cabin combinations.

Real-Time Visualization

The system renders each selection dynamically, allowing users to:
• Rotate the lift
• Inspect the interior
• Explore material reflections and lighting

Export Design Summary

Once the configuration is complete, the system generates a document summarizing the selected design including:
• Cabin layout preview
• Selected components
• Material details

This helps both customers and sales teams finalize specifications efficiently.

Our Role

Eclipze contributed to the visual and asset development side of the project by designing and preparing the 3D cabin environments used inside the configurator.

Our responsibilities included:
• Creating detailed 3D models of elevator cabins
• Designing modular lift interior components
• Preparing materials, lighting and textures
• Ensuring visual consistency across cabin variations
• Optimizing assets for real-time rendering

Each cabin model was built with high attention to detail to ensure realistic reflections, materials, and lighting behaviour.

Design Approach

The focus was to create premium lift interiors that reflect modern architectural aesthetics while remaining technically optimized for interactive visualization.

Key design considerations included:
• Realistic material rendering
• Modular component compatibility
• Lighting realism
• Visual balance inside confined cabin spaces
• Efficient asset optimization for software integration

Technology Integration

The 3D assets were designed to be integrated into a real-time application environment where users can interact with the lift model directly.

The system supports:
• 3D model interaction
• Component swapping
• Material variation
• Dynamic rendering

This allows the configurator to deliver a smooth and immersive experience.

Outcome

The project demonstrates how traditional lift catalogs can evolve into interactive digital experiences.

By combining modular design with real-time visualization, the configurator makes elevator customization more intuitive for both customers and sales teams.
